The Benefits of Avocado Oil

Continuing our series of articles about the natural ingredients we use here at KiteNest it’s Avocado oil. Derived from the avocado fruit (hopefully that’s not news to you) Avocado oil boasts some unusual yet healthy properties. Looking at the basics, avocado oil contains potassium (more than a banana in fact) unsaturated fats and the most important for KiteNest products it is a natural source of vitamin E.

In this brief post we’re only going to feature some of the more common, scientifically supported and stated benefits and properties and more importantly the reasons why we use Avocado oil in KiteNest products;

  1. Good for your hair – Avocado oils is a great treatment for dry hair and absorbs easily into the hair and scalp. It’s been used to keep hair beautiful and shiny since as far back as ancient Egypt. It is effective at conditioning damaged and dry hair, as well as controlling frizz.

  2. Happy scalps – Working it’s way deep into the epidermis layer of your skin avocado oil moisturises your scalp, It’s a great tool against dry and itchiness. avocado oils is said to stimulate hair follicles and hair growth whilst also improving blood circulation to your scalp. Being a rich source of proteins, amino acids and vitamins, avocado oil also helps promoting the growth of healthier tresses.

  3. Benefits for all skin – Because of the presence of vitamin A, D and E avocado is also a tool for skin cell growth and regeneration. Vitamin A and E will also help with cuts, wounds and prevent scaring due to antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies are now beginning to show that avocado oil can reduce the appearance of age spots, wrinkles and lines, as well as helping with acne breakouts whilst giving natural sun protection. Vitamin D can also promote the production of collagen which effectively slows down the ageing process of skin.

  4. Psoriasis – responds well to avocado oil and vitamin B12, according to a study published in the 2001 issue of the journal “Dermatology.” When using avocado oil cream for 12 weeks patients showed a consistent improvement throughout the study period. Interestingly those using a vitamin E cream only showed improvement for the first 4 weeks. The researchers concluded that avocado oil with vitamin B12 may be a useful long-term topical treatment for psoriasis.
