15 Uses for Lavender

Originating from the Mediterranean, lavender is now an iconic part of the British cottage garden. With a name deriving from the Latin ‘lavare’ meaning ‘to wash’, the herb has been used for thousands of years to scent baths and clothes, as well as for its medicinal properties as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. It is also often used to soothe nerves and to aid sleep and relaxation. A diverse plant, it can be used fresh, dried or as an extracted essential oil. If you have an abundance of lavender, read below for some inspiration on how to make the most of your pretty purple posies.
