Be Kind this Black Friday (Don’t Buy Anything at All!)

Be Kind this Black Friday (Don’t Buy Anything at All!)

Friday 27th November marks 2020’s Black Friday.

Another year. Another Black Friday. There’s no denying it, millions of us will be sucked into Black Friday deals all around the world. It’s the biggest consumer day of the year. But do we really need to consume all of these things that advertisers push at us?

If you’re a conscious consumer like us, you might choose to skip the Black Friday mania this year. Interestingly, more and more companies are starting to do the same, including us!

We challenge you to spend Black Friday differently this year.

We’re not going to try and sell you our products. We’re not even going to sway you with tempting discounts, or freebies with your order. We don’t want you to buy anything. Instead, we say, sit back, relax and do something kind.

Here are some good places to start:

And if you really do want to get a deal this Black Friday, please buy responsibly. Support brands that are working hard to make the world a better place. Find a business who is going the extra mile to be ethical - can you find a company who will plant a tree for your order? Or donate some of the profits of your sale to charity? Even better, can you find the item you’re extra on eBay? Gumtree? on a local selling site?

Some extra ways to ‘Be Kind’ this Black Friday:

  • Take part in a local park clean / beach clean-up
  • Donate to charity
  • Buy a sleeping bag for someone Homeless
  • Clear out your old items and give them to a charity shop
  • Support local.
  • Spread the word to ditch Black Friday.
