Plastic free sponges!
You’re conscious about your plastic consumption. You’ve stopped buying single-use plastic, you’ve swapped to a shampoo bar and have reusable cups and bags at the ready. But, have you stopped using sponges? Unless your sponge is 100% natural, they may contain microplastics such as polyester and nylon. These are none recyclable and fall off and break away on almost every wash - going straight down our drains and into our water systems. These microplastics then stay in the ocean forever, either being digested by marine life or making its way onto corals.
This 100% natural and vegan sponge will help naturally cleanse and nourish skin.
Helps boost circulation, exfoliation and cleanse pores. It’s also helpful for dry patches, acne, blackheads and eczema. Suitable for all skin types.
How to use
The sponge naturally hardens when dry, so always hydrate your sponge with water before use.
Gently squeeze away excess by pushing between your palms. Apply a small amount of cleanser (if desired) and rub the konjac sponge on the face in upward, circular motions. Concentrate on dry or blackhead-prone areas. Massage your skin with rotating movements.
Rinse after each use and squeeze away excess water. Hang up to dry.
Expected life span
12 weeks with daily use. Replace roughly every 3 months.
Meet the maker
Croll & Denecke
Croll & Denecke was established by Gustav Croll and Theodor Denecke in 1897 and makes wellness accessories harnessed from nature, in a responsible and environmentally-friendly way. Today, Peter and Nina Hankiewicz run the family enterprise, which is specialized in using raw natural materials for creating products used every day.
Made from the root of a sustainable vegetable, konjac is a great way to cleanse and gently moisturise your skin. Rather than plastic sponges, which break up over time and release tiny particles of plastic into the environment, konjac is completely biodegradable.
Each day, about 8 million pieces of plastic find their way into the ocean, killing well over a million marine animals a year. Plastic doesn't biodegrade, so swapping your plastic products for natural ones is a sure-fire way to help the environment.
Composting is an environmentally friendly way to get rid of natural waste. It improves soil quality, reduces the need for chemical fertilisers and helps you grow tasty veggies and lovely flowers!
No nasty impacts on marine life. This sponge has been made from the root of the Konjac plant. This means no microplastics down the plughole.
